Sorry about all those annoying twitter posts
I've turned off those loud twitter updates and stuck (placeld? pinned?) a twitter badge over there on the right instead. The little micro posts are less permanent that way - but that's kind of the point with Twitter I guess, and the daily digests were really starting to annoy me. You too? That's what I figured.
You might notice I also added a del.icio.us badge and a lijit widget, both of which need to be resized or tweaked a bit, but I'm too tired at this point to do that. The del.icio.us thingy shows you which Web sites I've bookmarked. The lijit thingy shows you a partial list of other sights I've been suckered into signing up for. You can also use the search field to search my content on all those sites and the content of everyone in my blogroll. I think. I'm not real clear on that yet.
Here's the scoop on Twitter, for those who've asked. You sign up, follow a few folks and type in random thoughts of 140 characters or less. Your individual posts or tweets as they call them start with your screen name (which counts towards your 140 characters, so think small). Your replies to others start with @theirscreenname. Your most recent tweets and the tweets of those you follow display in your twitter stream, then dissapear off the page as others reappear. I'm not making it sound easy, but it is. In fact, it's probably the easiest social media app I've signed up for. But it's also the most addictive. Robey even said the other day, "How come everytime you're on the computer you go to that page?"
Oh yeah, bucko. How come everytime you're on the computer you go to Netflix? Ha?
That's me getting defensive with a five-year-old.
Now it's midnight and I have to go feed a screaming Baby Z. Sign up for Twitter and follow me. I'll follow you back.

We’re all tired, us Blog Publishers! We work, but still find time to post. The question remains, what do we get for it?
Never be to tired to consider the safety of the information these widgets may be gathering, unbeknownst to the unwitting Publisher who installs them.
As a mom, you know our Blogs, like our kids, need to be protected as they grow. P.U.B. [Publishers Union of Bloggers] has pending inquires to Widget Providers concerning how they generate their income and what percentage of this income goes to the Blog Publisher making the critical decision to allow a Widget on their site for their readers. In addition we are requesting transparency on the critical issue of how the private statistic from Publishers Blogs are being used, hopefully with the Publisher’s permission!
P.U.B. expects to heard back from Lijit on these financial and private statistics issues from P.U.B’s inquiry we sent to Lijit in mid April 2008. When we do we will let great Blog Publishers like you know their deal.
Will publish these results to keep the community of Blog Publishers informed on this critical component of Widgets on our Blogs. Thanks again for being a great mom!
Sincerely,
Barney Moran

I really have no concerns about widget monetization at all. The last thing I'm looking to do with this blog is make money. And if I had to guess, I'd say the Lijit folks aren't making any money at all yet. They - and other widget providers - are offering us features for free. If we don't like their feature set or capabilities, or if we're concerned about their business model, we don't have to embed their widgets.

I'm impressed Robey knows the lingo & recognizes the website when he questions you about always going 'to that page'. These young kids & computers today are just amazing. Especially when I remember Mr. Stone teaching us 'computer' & it was NOTHING NOTHING NOTHING like now.
